WELCOME TO MY PERSONAL WEBPAGE

I am an Oceanologist from the XXIX Generation (1990-1994) at the Autonomous University of Baja California, where I also earned my Master's degree in Coastal Oceanography (1996-1998). I hold a PhD in Engineering from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (2015-2017), which I pursued after working as a consultant in coastal engineering in Denmark, Spain, and the United States, contributing to projects worldwide. At the end of 2009, I transitioned into academia, joining the Engineering Institute at the Sisal Academic Unit of UNAM, where I am currently a Professor.

My passion for studying the sea and its beaches dates back to my childhood, when I would spend hours snorkeling and experiencing the ocean and its waves. As a teenager, I eagerly waited for waves, even at 7 am before school. This deep connection with the sea led me to pursue a degree in Oceanology to stay close to the ocean and its dynamics. During my studies, I developed a keen interest in solving problems related to coastal engineering, which has been the focus of my professional life. Currently, my research interests include the study of waves, extreme events such as hurricanes and Nortes, ocean currents and dispersion, coastal erosion, and the functional design of maritime structures. My approach is to generate applied knowledge to address the challenges and solve problems related to coastal and marine development.
